We have already witnessed a wave of mass layoffs from big IT companies in 2022, 2023, and even in 2024. However, layoffs have started again as the year 2025 begins, and there is no sign of slowing down in job cuts in IT industry even in 2025. Major tech companies such as Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, Salesforce announced performance-based job cuts and team downsizing.

Infosys Mass Layoffs At Mysuru Campus

IT giant Infosys has already laid off around 700 trainees from its Mysuru campus for not passing an internal evaluation. Few reports indicates that these freshers were onboarded just a few months ago and were suddenly dismissed by a tech giant. Infosys is facing criticism for dismissing huge number of trainees and forcibly evicting them on the same day. Company has also denied request from these freshers for an overnight stay at the campus.

These freshers have been waiting over two years after the completion of their graduation to initiate their careers with Infosys in September 2024. Unfortunately, these freshers are now facing the situation of being jobless just after a few months of joining. Once they return to their home, it will be difficult for them to break this devastating news of mass layoffs to their family members.

According to reports, these trainees were failed to clear internal assessments even after three attempts. Infosys also facing criticism for not listening to their requests of staying overnight at the campus and leaving for home next morning, instead these freshers were evicted by the company using bouncers and security personnel in very harsh way. Company used bouncers during entire termination process to intimidate employees which is very shocking and heartbreaking incident to hear.

This indicates that 2025 is going to be another tough economic year for IT industry. Layoffs will always have a negative impact on people’s lives, their families, marriages, and also hamper their career growth in a long run.

Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Microsoft are some other big names in the IT industry making job cuts. Around 7,000 employees have already terminated this year across the globe by many IT firms.

According to reports, thousands of employees have lost their income due to massive job cuts in the industry. As per few data sources around 540 companies laid off more than 1.5 Lakh employees last year i.e. 2024.

During the year 2022 around 1,65,269 people lost their jobs, and during the year 2023 about 2.6 Lakh employees were witnessed heartbreaking job losses. As per reputed media “The Times of India”, tech giant Amazon has laid off 27,000 employees in last three years.
