Weather Report: Heavy rains with thundershowers will be witnessed in the southern part of India for 05 days from today. At the same time, the maximum temperature will be observed in the northern Indian states. There is a possibility of a prolonged heat wave. Due to the current cyclonic circulation in two directions, the southern Indian states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Karnataka will experience more pre-monsoon rains.
A cyclonic circulation has formed at an altitude of 3.5 km above the land in the sea area of Kanyakumari and Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, a low pressure area has formed at sea level in the Lakshadweep region. These two anomalies, although not very severe initially, have intensified in the last 24 hours. Accordingly, various states, including coastal South India, are likely to receive heavy rains for about a week from April 3, the Meteorological Department said.
Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning are expected in about 21 districts of Karnataka, major districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai metropolis, Telangana, and Maharashtra. Scattered moderate rains are forecast over Gujarat and Odisha.
Long summer: Heat wave warning for states
North India, including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, will continue to experience scorching heat for a long period from April to June, until the arrival of monsoon rains. There is no rain warning here. Instead, the Meteorological Department report says that a heat wave will be recorded.
Pre-monsoon rains are active in many states of the country. Rain is expected to prevail in Karnataka state for the next five days till April 8. If this cyclone intensifies further, rain is expected to spread to central India as well. There has already been a change in wind speed in coastal states.
