The Central Government Has Increased The Price Of LPG Cylinder By Rs. 50: The price of cooking gas has been increased by Rs 50 per cylinder, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Monday 07 April, 2025. With this, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased from Rs 803 to Rs 853.

"The increase of Rs 50 per cylinder is applicable to both Ujjwala beneficiaries and non-Ujjwala beneficiaries. This will be reviewed every 15 days or once a month" he informed.

Commercial LPG cylinder price is decreased by Rs. 41

The price of a 19 kg cooking gas cylinder for commercial use has been reduced by Rs 41. The new price has come into effect from April 1. In Delhi, the price of a cylinder, which was Rs 1,803, has come down to Rs 1,762. However, there has been no change in the price of domestic cooking gas cylinders. Currently, the price of a 14.2 kg cylinder is Rs. 803 in New Delhi and Rs. 805 in Bengaluru.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has defended the price hike, saying, "India is dependent on imports for LPG, and LPG prices in the global market have increased by 63% compared to July 2023." "It is costing Rs 1,028.50 per cylinder. Oil marketing companies are incurring additional costs and are in loss. The price has been increased to compensate for this" Puri said. This hike in LPG Cylinder price is shock to common people and middle class people.

Tax hike on petrol and diesel: Meanwhile, the government has increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per liter. However, since this increase is not applicable to the retail price, consumers are feeling a little relieved.

Due to the fall in global crude oil prices, petrol and diesel prices were allowed to be reduced by Rs 2 per liter, but the government has 'adjusted' this reduction by increasing excise duty. The minister has estimated that with this increase, it will generate an annual revenue of Rs 32,000 crore.
