US President Donald Trump said that high-tariff countries such as India, China and Brazil “harm” American interests and he has announced his plans to impose tariffs on these countries to bring money back into the US.
During his recent address to House Republicans at Miami, Florida, President Trump criticized India, China, and Brazil for imposing high tariffs on American goods. Since beginning of his second presidential term, Trump is focusing on “America First” economic agenda.
He said “We are going to put tariffs on outside countries and outside people that really mean harm to US.”
“They basically want to strengthen their countries at our expense, but we won’t let them happen anymore” Trump said.
Donald Trump targeted countries like India, China and Brazil for imposing high and unfair tariffs against America. He further said “China is a tremendous tariff maker, and India and Brazil and so many other countries as well. We are not going to let that happen any more because we are going to put America First”.
“Under the America First economic model, instead of taxing our citizens to strengthen foreign countries, we will put tariffs on outside countries to enrich our citizens and strengthen our country. As tariffs on other countries go up, taxes on American workers and business will gradually come down and massive numbers of jobs and factories will come home” Trump said.
Trump also urged companies to set up their manufacturing plants in America to avoid paying high tariffs. “If you want to stop paying the taxes or the tariffs, you have to build your plant right here in America. We are going to have more number of plants built in the next short period of time than anybody ever envisioned before because they have no tariff whatsoever,” President Trump said.
The President Trump also said that the US will support companies building their manufacturing plants in America, specifically in critical industries like semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and steel.
He also said that if foreign companies like Indian, Chinese, Brazilian or others want to avoid these high tariffs, they should build their manufacturing plant in America. He told the House Republicans about his plans to impose high tariffs on steel, aluminium, copper, and other materials required by the American military.
